Odyssey Session: Go Beyond the Business Card - Forming Lasting Connections

How many business cards and phone numbers will you collect this alumni weekend? How many will end up forgotten in your contacts, in a drawer, or the recycle bin? In this one-hour course, we will cover three fun meet-and-greet exercises that will allow you to strengthen old friendships and form new ones. Ditch the business card and bring your wit, your favorite JHU memories, and your smartphone. Yes, you read that correctly. You’ll need to pull out your device for the third and most engaging icebreaker exercise in this class. Once you complete the course, you’ll have some great tools in your networking tool kit to form lasting connections this alumni weekend and beyond. Perfect for alumni returning for Reunion Weekend, this event is a taste of year-round non-credit courses offered through the Odyssey Lifelong Learning Program. Join John Lim (Carey Business School, Class of ’14) for an engaging session that will enhance your networking experience and help you stay connected long after the weekend ends.

Evergreen Museum and Library Tour

Evergreen Museum & Library is housed in a Gilded Age mansion surrounded by 26 acres of gardens and woods. The museum is home to a renowned collection of fine and decorative arts, rare books, and manuscripts assembled by two generations of Baltimore’s civic-minded Garrett family (1878-1952). Though originally constructed in 1858, Evergreen was drastically expanded and altered by the Garretts to accommodate their eclectic collections, and today is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can experience the museum through guided tours that explore the Garretts, their extraordinary collections, and Evergreen’s transformation from a country villa to a hub for contemporary musicians, writers, and artists.

Please note that due to the historical nature of the building, Evergreen is not wheelchair accessible and all tours require going up several flights of stairs.
